Hi John:

You might want to check any routers of switches that the III servers is using to connect to the T-1. The other thing I would double check is the wiring in the buildings. Did someone cut corners, when it was installed and so packets going over the line are lost in the "twilight zone".

Best of luck finding your gremlin.

Hi,

we've been playing our own game of Stump The Chump here. Maybe some one out
there can help.

We have 6 campuses, of which 5 are connected to the District Office by
fiber. One connects with a couple T-1s. Co-incidentally, the library
connecting over the T-1s is having trouble with completely random dropped
sessions on our III server.

Text or Millennium, morning or evening, rain or shine (yeah, we do have rain
here), it doesn't matter. They may stay connected for a couple hours or
events may occur minutes apart. They may be idle, they may be in the middle
of entering a record. They can usually reconnect immediately, but not
always. No other software, including Banner, has had this problem from that
campus. Any login can lose it. Then the staff lose it. I can leave my WS
here at the central office logged in with one of their logins all night with
no disconnect.

Of course our IT is blaming the III server, I don't believe them. I see
nothing in our various setup screens that looks at all responsible. In my
mind, the glaring difference is the method of connection for that campus.

Any one have any thoughts, similar experiences, anecdotes?
Thanks,
