Aine-
We print labels directly from MilCat. The label queue is set up by the
login. If everyone who uses MilCat uses the same login, the labels will
be in one queue. If they login in as separate people, the labels will
queue under that login. For example, I login in under sccat. All my
labels will be under that "Labels for sccat". The person who works for
me uses "MainCat", so her labels under under that login. If both of us
used "MainCat", our labels would be in the same queue.
To print labels in MilCat, click on "Tools", "Queue Monographic Labels,"
after creating the item record.
Once all the labels are queued, go to "Create List." Find an empty file.
Select "Copy File." Go down the list to the bottom and there will be a
file "Labels for ....." Copy that file.
Once the file is copied, show the records in the file. Then go to
"File", select printer and select label printer and whichever system
printer the labels will print to. Then "File", "Print labels." Once that
screen is display, click on "Edit labels."
From there you can modify any of the labels. Also, the "pocket" side
will display. We use those not for pockets, but to put into books as an
identifier of ownership when needed. We delete the location code.
After everything is correct, we print the labels. MilCat will only print
to Gaylord SL6 labels.
We've been doing this for a few months and are happy with it.
We used to type the labels in WordPerfect and this is much better.
Let me know if you need more info,
Sheila

Hello,
I need help to set up spine label printing. None of the INNOPAC
Libraries in Ireland are using this yet, we are ahem, typing all our
class numbers into a stand alone label printer!! I am confused about
system printing of spine labels. We do not use pocket labels. We wish to
print to a HP LaserJet 5000 series PCL. Can someone please please try to
answer the following questions?
* Do I have to print spine and pocket, we just want spine labels.
* How do I define batch label queues? Can we just have one queue
with m for monograph in it?
* If we want to use normal(no pocket labels like the Gaylord Sl6
stock)do we have to get Anziowin
* What type (product) of labels are people using for just spine
labels.(Is anyone using avery or any of the international labels that we
could get here?)(We would like to source our labels locally)
* Can we print directly from millennium milcat or milcirc, or do
we have to go into the character based system to print. (I thought the
manual said you could queue labels, and then create a list from the
review file and print them)If we can avoid telnet or some other
character based horrible black and white blinking annoyance it would be
great.
* How do you figure out what measurements to put into the system
for spine label printing. With anzio win, how do you do this.(ive
downloaded a trial of anzio win)
Sorry about the list of questions, but I’m totally lost.
Thanks in advance for any help
