I have been following this thread, seeing several folks reporting their
Millennium login scripts freezing after upgrading to 2002 Phase 3. Have
also seen replys stating that the problem was video cards, NIC cards and
so on.
My experience: We upgraded to Phase 3 last Saturday night. All my
machines are running Win 98 SE, same NIC cards, same video cards. At
first Millennium login attempt after upgrade system responds: "a new
Java Client is required. Do you wish to install now..." After
installing, some machines launched as they should, many more froze as
has been mentioned in this thread.
My fix: Install the new client as prompted. Go to the icon on the
desktop, right click, choose properties, click on program tab.
On the Cmd line: edit the path from "C:\MILLEN~1\IIIRUN~1.BAT" to
"C:\millennium\iiirunner.exe"
Disclaimer: This has worked fine with MY machines on MY network.
I don't think it's a NIC card or video card issue either. It's happening
too many times at too many sites. My guess is a incompatibility issue
with the client itself and Win 98.
