Hi Bruce
We have a computer that is solely used for testing from the outside. We
have an account with an ISP and use a dialup connection to try out
database connections. This is generally done by our Electronic
Resources Librarian after he puts the link up on the web page.
Since most of our students use distance education, we find it very
helpful to try out the links and also to test things that students tell
us they are finding.
Cheers,
Doug

I also appreciate the help in fixing a problem that no one reported that we
had. That's a different issue altogether, which I won't get into with this
post.
Question:
Those of you who responded immediately to the list saying you had the same
problem--do you have an off-campus ISP to test whether WAM is working or not
working? In the ISI case I could see on campus that it wasn't working, but
in other cases, where there has been a redirect, access to that resource has
continued to work on my PC because I'm on the campus network and have a
campus network IP address.
That's a long way of asking, do you find it necessary to have an off-campus
ISP to test WAM and does your institution provide that to you?
