Cheryl --
You have been creating temporary substitution phrases. You can create permanent substitution phrases in telnet.
To set these substitution phrases, you go to the Database section of the Set System Options menu. There should be an entry called "Substitution Phrases". For more information, go to the users manual page # 101866. Then next time you bring up Millennium, they will be there. These can have any code you want and they are keyed after the "%" symbol just like the temporary ones.
I am not sure when permanent substitution phrases will make it into Millennium, but it is very easy to manage in telnet.
Hope this helps.

Subject: Substitution phrases in MilCat
Hello:
I have been trying to use substitution phrases in Millennium
Cataloging. There are certain fields that we use over and over
in bib records. I have not been able to discover a way to make
the substitution phrases permanent in Millennium. I can set up
a substitution phrase for a session, but when I logout and return
to work the next day the substitution phrase is gone.
Is there some authorization or Login Manager setting that I have
overlooked? We are on Phase 3 of Release 2002.
