Hello --
Another solution will be available in Release 2003. You will be able to store variable length information into the template (like what you can do with GUICAT) so you can create templates for each of the vendors that you load with a different note field for that vendor (such as "Item purchased from YBP"; "Item purchsed from Bookhouse"; etc.. You would then choose the correct template under system options before you load the file and it should work like a charm. I have not done this, but it seems that it would work perfectly well according to the documentation. You will also have the ability to create a review file (it appears immediately) of loaded records, so you could add it via rapid update after it is loaded.

Best wishes for the holidays.

Subject: Record vendor note
I created a load profile for one of our bib/item record vendors. We need a note inserted in each item record identifying it as having been loaded from that vendor (i.e. "Created by X"). As far, as I understand, there is no place to put it in a record defaults' variable field. Can I make it a part of the load table (profile)? Or is our only option to ask the vendor to put that note in records?
Thank you,
