RE: Loading circ data from another system

I am not sure if anyone answered this, but this is probably no problem. I would contact the helpdesk and/or your sales rep because circ migrations need to be done with consultation and intervention from a higher authority! Circ migration effectiveness can be quite high but are ultimately driven by the ability to identify the data by the unique barcodes on both the old system and the new system. Many of the problems with circ migration occur when you try to move circ transactions and fines for books that were LONG billed or for patrons who no longer are in the system. These are the non-matches that cannot be linked to anything after the migration and are flushed down the virtual...well, toilet. I worked on a number of circ migrations and they were quite successful for the most part, especially when the oldest fines and transactions were purged before the data was extracted from the old system.

Innovative has developed procedures for each of the systems, so you should be OK.

Hope this helps --

Best -- Corey

Subject: Loading circ data from another system

Hi all,

Has anyone out there loaded Circulation data (checkout, fines, overdues, etc..) from TLCs Library.Solution or from Winnebago/Spectrum when bringing a library "into Innovative" ?
We have converted/loaded Patron and Item info, but never Circ data.
Anyone willing to share how they did it, or who did it for you, and what it involved?
Is it even possible?

Thanks,
