Michael,
We're in the same fix! Fred and I had emailed back and forth and I've
been in contact with ISI tech and they haven't come up with anything else.
Unlike Fred, we automatically proxy everything. And the librarians
wanted us to use this screen
http://isi4.isiknowledge.com/portal.cgi?DestApp=WOS&Func=Frame
instead of
http://isi4.isiknowledge.com/portal.cgi
as a launch page....at first I thought that might be our problem, but I've
tested both and that doesn't seem to matter. I have the forward table
entries as Fred describes.
I've posted an interim page from our database listings to help out of off
site people
http://www.csulb.edu/library/eref/problems.html
So for now we are not automatically proxying wos on site and are warning
off site users that they'll have problems. I'd rather have it work right,
but this will get us through until we get the correct answer.
Thanks again Fred for your suggestions!
Sara

RE: isi and proxy rewrite solution
I've tried this with proxy rewrite...it still doesn't work for us. If I
log in without using proxy rewrite, I can print and email records. If I
use proxy rewrite, every time I try to print or email records, I'm
kicked back to a "Starting New Session" screen. I have things set up as
described below, although using "isi4" instead of "isi10" since that's
how we're directed.

I've been working with ISI as well as reading the list and
communicating with other users. We seem to have solved our current
problems with ISI and are using the following configuration:
Okay, I have to credit this solution to Lorraine Falconer of the Univ.
Of Sydney Library, as well as Vanessa Arce of III, and Chris at ISI.
We had to do three things to get this all to work:
I added two entries to the WAM forward table:
1. isi10.isiknowledge.com
2. *.isiknowledge.com
The first is the isi server our site is directed to. Because it reads
this information first, it gives this entry higher priority than the
second entry, which is used to handle any redirects which may not
include isi10 in the URL.
We also had to change the links on our Website to match the first proxy
entry. We do not automatically proxy our database links at this time
(although we are going to be doing this soon). So the link from our
Website to the ISI Web of Knowledge is:
http://isi10.isiknowledge.com/portal.cgi
When we change this to be automatically proxied, this will be:
http://0-isi10.isiknowledge.com.library.lib.asu.edu/portal.cgi
I don't know if this will help anyone else, but I thought I'd post just
in case.
Have a good holiday everyone.
