- Subject: WebBridge slowness
Greetings,
we are currently in the testing phase of our WebBridge implementation.
Since we loaded our e-journal holdings in WebBridge a few days ago, we
have noticed some pretty serious performance issues.
Here is what happens. Let's say we are in a database and we click on the
WebBridge button. The WebBridge window comes up almost immediately, but
it remains blank for at least a good minute and a half, often more.
After that delay, the services links eventually appear, and everything
works well from that point on.
But that initial delay is much, much too long. I would expect the whole
resolution process to last a few seconds (as most web-based operations
do nowadays) and so will our users...
I am not sure what this problem can be attributed to, but I suspect it
has to do with the process of searching through our holdings for a
matching ISSN (we normally use a "MatchISSNHyphen+Date" data test for
full text links). Note that the slowness does not occur when the origin
is our Web OPAC - in those cases, WebBridge is very fast. But in those
cases, of course, our holdings are not checked...
Have any other sites experienced that type of problem? If so, have you
found a way to solve it?
Many thanks in advance,
Francois-Xavier Pare
