Yes, label printing is
tricky. We use a lovely product called MacroExpress to create macros
to produce labels from a batch queue. This procedure allows you to use
any label stock or printer you desire because the macros are tailored
to the stock. The use of macros reduces the number of steps from 22 to
4. The steps are:
1. Queue monographic labels to print
2. The first macro

Hello! We here at London Public Library have been using this clearing program for over a year now and it works extremely well for us! We have 16 branches and our in-transit clearing is done once the item has been in-transit for 24 hours. We are currently looking into changing this to a longer period given that items don't always make it back to the shelves in 24 hours. The items placed on hold during the "in-transit" process actually get picked up by the paging list and that works well for us. One thing that we've had a problem with, however, is that things that go into transit automatically from the Clear the Holdshelf Program do not get picked up in the Automated Clearing of In-transit Status Program (III has just informed me that this is in Release 2003). This means that we've had to checkin items placed into in-transit by the Clear the Holdshelf program before they go into the shipment and re-place them in-transit! Every week, I create a list of it
been in transit more than 24 hours and I remove the "t" Status and the "m" Message field in Rapid Update. I clear the Error Report daily. It reports all items that have had their status cleared. It is useful in that if there are no items there, one knows that the automated program isn't working! Otherwise, because of the large number of in-transits we have daily, I don't spend any time looking at the log details!
Given the size of our operation--we have thousands of in-transits a day--the program in general saves us a tremendous amount of time and we love it! I hope this helps! Kind regards, Eeva
