RE: Millennium on Windows XP Pro as User

I haven't run tests on this, but it definitely sounds like a permissions
issue. I would at least check the permissions on the default
installation directory and it's subfolder (c:\millenium and
c:\millenium\jardir). By default users (i.e. Microsoft's definition of
Users as opposed to Power Users) should be able to read this directory,
but not modify. Does Millenium modify any files in the directory or
subdirectory during initialization?

Stephanie,

I can't explain exactly why, but we have something similar happen with
some of our computers. If we install the JRE while logged in as
Administrator, then test Millennium (still logged in as Administrator)
it works fine, until we log off and log in as another user. Then it
starts to load but never gets as far as the login screen. If we start
all over again, log in as Administrator, then uninstall and reinstall
the JRE but DO NOT test it until we've logged off and logged back in as
the user, it works fine. So we've learned to stop testing as
Administrator and have had no further problems (well, not this
particular problem, anyway!).

I don't know if this is the same problem you're having, but it might be
worth a try.

Subject: Millennium on Windows XP Pro as User

Hi all,

I'm hoping someone else has found an answer to this problem. We
are upgrading our computers to Windows XP Professional. The computers
were upgraded from WIN98. Most of them were done as straight upgrades.
Staff are considered USERS on those computers, not ADMINISTRATOR. They

are having no problems connecting to Millennium. For a small number of
computers, (just 2 so far) the computers were completely reformatted,
and XP was loaded as a fresh install. Because of the XP java issues, I
went to sun.com and loaded java. I then went to csdirect and downloaded

the millennium installer. Everything worked fine. I then tested
connecting to Millennium as the administrator. Again fine. I then
logged out, logged in as one of the users on the computer, and was
unable to connect. When you double click the Millennium icon, the java
begins to run. When I look in the box, it begins loading iiilauncher,
and starts the url for my server/initapp. It then starts to run some
commands to quickly for me to read, and shuts itself down. It never
reaches the login.

I assume it is a problem with java and the user, but don't
understand why people can log on to the upgraded (not reformatted)
computers as a user, and have no problems whatsoever. I have opened a
call with III on this.

Our computers have 256 mb ram, and are now all XP Pro. We are still

running Release 2002 phase 2.

    Thanks for any ideas!

        Stephanie
