- Subject: RE: Receipt Printers - Star Micronics SP200 Series Printers
I want to add my thoughts to this after struggling with receipt printer
on and off for the past two months:
Printwiz works fine to add headers and other info, if you want to use
more than 2 lines of information in the provided slip format. But it
only works if the data sent by III is in the right format. For
instance, printwiz can not covert 3 column format into 3 row format, or
if the printout is formatted for page size, it can not convert it to
receipt size. You would have to have the right equipment, for instance,
40 column-wide receipt printer for the receipt to print right.
If you can get the enable direct text printing to work with your receipt
printer, in most cases, it will work better than printwiz. Why? To use
printwiz, you have to start the program first and then you have to
configure your workstation jet and then you have to choose it, let alone
other technical issues of how to make your logos and the dimensions and
where it would appear....
For the autocut feature on the receipt printer, my experience is that
some printer says it will autocut, but only in certain format. In my
TM-T88III case, you have to set up a generic printer driver for it to
autocat, which introduces another set of problems.
And the frustrating thing is that somebody else has the exact setting as
yours and the printout is reasonably acceptable, but not yours...

With Print Wizard, you can customize receipts, using a print
initialization file. This file can specify a variety of things to be
printed BEFORE the data from Innopac. You could include text, a logo,
etc., and you could do this in an alternate color, assuming the printer
has a valid Windows printer driver. (You would then NOT have Innopac
send
the header data.)
I don't have experience with these particular printers.
