We have also had this problem and other related problems, but only on some
units.
In some cases the browser would not launch at all (this was usually on
units running Windows 98). In some cases, it launched but you would get
varying degrees of functionality from the browser (I have found this to
potentially be the case with both NS7 and IE 6). For instance you can
access the Index but the search functions don't work, getting a Bad Magic
java error.
After various experiments, I ended up installing Netscape 4.08 standalone
Navigator on the problem PCs. I labeled the shortcut manual and had its
home page be the login URL. It seems to work well with the manual
regardless of what Java versions are installed.
