- Subject: Netscape Browsers and Millennium Client
Hello to ALL:
ALIS (Automated Library Information System) in Nassau County, New York is
in the process of implementing Millennium 2002 Phase 3. We are currently in
the training stage and many of our users have reported a problem accessing
the manual from within the Innovative client. This problem is isolated to
machines that have Netscape 7.x loaded and functioning as the workstation
default browser.
We have had some success at correcting the problem by having the
individual users go to the list of installed software and remove all Java
related software. It appears that the Netscape Java Run Time applications
conflict with the Millennium Java. My first concern is will these applets
attempt to reinstall when a web page is encountered that requires their use.
Secondly, I was wondering if a custom install as opposed to a complete
install is a better route to have the users take.
If anyone else has encountered this problem we would appreciate
any help you can provide.
Sincerely;
Alan Katz
