- Subject: Re: My Millennium and Preferred Searches
We are also in the process of setting this up but have run into a couple
of glitches. We have an old system with a non-standard email tag in our
patron records (we set up our tags before email to patrons was even an
option).
Innovative set up the alternate email tag for us (Phase 3) and set the
option to send out mail once a month (I'm happy to hear that someone
else is doing it weekly - will have to check on this) I have a test set
up for a generic subject = video recordings and a couple other authors
that I knew were in the cataloging pipeline - but still no notifications
to my email address.
Another problem that we have encountered in the process involves the
time it takes to do our daily backups now. Because of staffing and
library hours, we do a daily backup last thing on Friday. Before we set
things up, our backup took from 1-5 minutes. Now the daily takes nearly
18 minutes. Our full backups take only 23 minutes!
This is caused by a huge file that is created with the preferred search
information according to my latest talks with the Helpdesk. Could having
more frequent mailings (if we ever get any :) help to keep this file
down to a reasonable size and speed our daily backups to a reasonable
amount of time?
