Re: Checking in bound volumes

We also experience the same problem Adam described caused by the way notes are entered in the Note box in a check-in box. Some extra characters would appear and cannot be deleted if the "Enter" key was pressed rather than the Submit button.

Regarding Cheryl's question about the "unwanted" 853 in the check-in record, it's not clear to me under what module (Check-in or Check-in Bound) this took place, and, therefore, what I am going to say may not be on target. In the Check-in Bound module, after the Check-in Bound button is clicked, you'll see "Add Volume to LIB HAS field" on the pop-up screen. If it's checked, the 853 and 863 fields should automatically be added (if it's the first bound vol.) or updated (if it's not the first bound vol.) in the check-in record. The 853/863 would provide the holdings statement for the public view in the LIB HAS field on WebOPAC, and therefore you probably would want to keep them. If you have other ways in providing holdings statements, e.g., 866 or other locally-defined fields, then you can uncheck the box in front of "Add Volume to LIB HAS field" so that 853/863 won't be added.

Cheryl:

We have experienced problems checking-in bound volumes as well (although
not exactly the same problem). The primary cause of our problems was using
the "enter" keyboard key rather than clicking on "submit" after updating
the note field. III is aware of this problem and is working on a
fix. Please let me know if this information helps.
