Checking in bound volumes

I've researched the manual, but cannot figure out the solution to a problem
one of my staff persons is having when she checks in bound volumes.

She tells me that when she checks in bound volumes, an 853 field is
automatically added to her checkin record.  She does not want this field
added.

What setting has she turned on to make this happen?
