Subject: Re: isi and proxy rewrite solution

Hello all,

We were struggling with the ISI & III proxy problem for a long time, and
like most of you, we tried various ways to make it work. Using suggestions
from the listserve and Innovative, this is our solution:

1) Verify what ISI server you are connecting to. Connect to Web of
Knowledge without the proxy and note the beginning of the URL. Our server
is isi4 another example on the listserve has been isi10.

2) Our WAM table only has the following entry*:

026 > ISI *.isiknowledge.com 0 1 0-2,10-13,... ISI Knowledge

Do not include *.newisiknowledge.com or anything with newisiknowledge.com in
the URL. *Note: We also have two entries before #26, specifying WOS and JCR
for statistics.

3) On the web page that links the proxified URL for Web of Science, specify
the ISI server directly in the URL, do not use 'www' or newisiknowledge.com.
Our link is:
http://0-isi4.isiknowledge.com.catalog.llu.edu/portal.cgi?DestApp=WOS&Func=F
rame

4) When we click on print/save/export for marked lists, we are no longer
redirected to a new session. If *.newisiknowledge.com is in our WAM table,
the ISI server creates a new session.

I believe the major problem right now is that ISI is continuing to redirect
www.isiknowledge.com to www.newisiknowledge.com. If ISI would stop the
redirection, due away with www.newisiknowledge.com and only use the regular
URL, then we would not have to specify the server directly in our links. We
do run the risk that the ISI server will change or be down, but this is the
only way we have gotten printing/saving/exporting to work.

I have been working with Innovative and this configuration finally
works for
us.
<<<

David,

Like, Fred, I can verify that indeed this is not working for us.
Regardless of the number or types of entries that we have in our WAM
table or the link that we use to connect, we have not been able to get
email/print/export to work for WOS.

Has Innovative maybe patched your system to allow for the EZProxy style
fix for rewriting partially encoded elements in the page?

This EZProxy fix is documented at
http://www.isinet.com/isi/training/faqs/wok2/wok20/ and at
http://ezproxy.com/support/db/isi.html and involves rewriting
partially encoded elements in the webpage frames that are like
"http%3A//wos4.newisiknowledge.com" so that they are actually proxied.
This involves the following directives in the isi configuration:

Find name="product_st_thomas" value="http://
Replace name="product_st_thomas" value="http://^A
Find name="return_url" value="http://
Replace name="return_url" value="http://^A

Still, if it's working for you, then seemingly, we should be able to
get it working for us!

Thanks,
David
