We have a networked camera and III photo id software. This allows us to take a picture with the networked camera. It is then stored in III- when you call up the record, there is a small box on the right of the patron information that has the picture.

To produce cards, we use hardware/software that Lam-Tech/L.T. Sales Corp. puts out. Using III image/text API software, Lam-Tech sends a url request to III( after we scan in a patron barcode) and III sends back patron information we have set it up to send along with the barcode and picture. Then with a click, the library card is printed- with the picture, barcode, patron name, etc from the III record.

We are pleased with the way this is working for us.

Subject: Patron Photos/Library Cards

Is anyone using an integrated networked camera that allows you to add
photo images to patron records? I am trying to come up with a
solution for student ID for our college. What I would really like
is an integrated ID card/library card that has the patron's
photograph and student ID number barcoded onto the card. We
use Millennium and our student records are uploaded several times a week
from Banner, so a library card could serve very well as the ID for the
college.

Is anyone doing that? I'd appreciate knowing how it's working and
who your vendors are. Thanks.
