You can tidy up desktops all you want, and all old Mill icons *should* be 
removed.  (No harm in leaving them, but if they're activated, users will be 
prompted to install the new client all over again.)  The original warning 
had to do with removing old Millennium clients (not old icons) after 
installing the new:

You can remove the old JRE after the new installation and you can remove 
the old Millennium client before the new installation;  just don't remove 
the old Millennium client after installing the new software.  BTW, since 
Phase 3 Millennium applications don't use the system JRE, JRE1.4.1 does not 
appear as a separate entry in the "Add/remove programs" control panel.
