- Subject: Re: Use of Generators to Run Server
Phyllis,
Don't know if this will help much, but we had some extensive flooding in
the building attached to our Library and had to run the INNOPAC server off
of a generator the size of a truck for a few weeks. There didn't seem to
be any problem with running it this way except for the possibility of the
generator's oil running out. It needed to be refilled quite often and it
was not easy to tell just when it was about to run out. Also, the
generator had to be stopped in order to refill the oil. We decided to take
the system down each night as a precaution and the oil was checked very
early each morning. If I'm remembering correctly, we ended up getting an
even bigger generator with a larger oil capacity and we did not have to
take the system down as often. At least it may be something you want to
ask about.
