RE: Subfield 3 in 856 tag

Hi Laura.

There is a display command "DISPLAY_856" in the WWWOPTIONS file that determines which 856 subfields display in the WebPAC. In our catalog(s), the command is listed under the "OPAC Display and Behavior Options"

Hope this helps.

Subject: Subfield 3 in 856 tag

We have recently discovered that when a 856 tag in a bib record is preceded by
a subfield 3 that the information contained in the subfield 3 is not displayed.

Instead, the (usually) messy URL itself is displayed. (However, the text
contained in the subfield z in a 856 tag is displayed as text.) I was
wondering if there is a way to enable the text in subfield 3 to display. We
accept a lot of copy from LC and their recent cataloguing has several 856 tags
which connect to things like Tables of contents, Publisher's description,
Sample text and so on.

I'd appreciate any insight.

Thanks,
Laura
