Hi
We create a boolean list of all items that have a due date within the following two weeks for patrons who have email only. We then send this list out via Notices - checked out items - and the patrons get what we call a pre-due notice, (ie a warning of items that are about to fall due). We send this out weekly so if a patron has an email address they get two warnings of items about to fall due. It is much appreciated by our staff members.

I am looking someone who may have found a work around for using
Statements of Checked-Out Items for courtesy notices. Most of our
patrons who would benefit from a reminder have a gazillion things
checked out. So when they are reminded of 2 or three items about to
become due, they also get an unwieldy list of everything they have
checked out. Using statements of checked out items for this is way too
clunky.
