We tend to use the Identify field to indicate specific volumes when
we're ordering less than a full set - or an additional copy, replacement
volume, symposium issue, or personal copy. It works nicely in a summary
display to help us receive and pay for the right things and make sure
that we claim properly anything we don't get. ID fields print on our
purchase orders too.

Jamen,
I would suggest that you use a note field in the order record. You can
put anything in this field and it doesn't display on the OPAC.
In this type of situation, we setup the order record as a
book/monographic order since it is a one time/firm order, put a note in
indicating volume purchased.

Good morning once again,
First, thank you to all of you who quickly responded to my earlier
question
about the status display in our OPAC. I knew it had to be an easy
answer.
Here's another question for you, though. There have been a couple of
instances where we have wanted to order individual volumes of a
multi-volume
set, but not the complete set. I'd like to use one bib record for this,
but
how can I identify the different volumes I'm looking for in the order
record? It's not really an issue of copies because they're different
volumes. And we don't want the complete set, so the Volumes field won't
work either. Ideas?
