- Subject: Re: Content Advisor problem with Innopac
Debbie: Our experience with this problem has been from outside our library with only a handful of patrons using the Internet Explorer as their browser. I had one patron try accessing her account using Netscape and she was able to get in and view her checked out items, etc. For some reason, the problem which is solved by disabling the Content Advisor only seems to impact only a few patrons, which leads us to believe that it is something specific to their account access... With one patron's help, we related it back to a security upgrade by Microsoft back in February... In addition, our patrons did not see any error message, but were thrown back to logging into their account.
Our Web OPAC Workstations are set up without the Content Advisor enabled because we prevent outside access from these machines. We have separate "Internet" machines with 2 hour use limits per day for Internet use. That prevents and discourages the same people from spending all and every day on our machines.
I hope this is helpful to you. Kind regards and best wishes, Eeva

Hi wonder if anyone out there can assist me with something.
Over the last couple of months, we have been getting the following
error:
"your validation has expired - try to re-establish"
It is when a patron goes to view what they have checked out to them,
what happens is the get flicked back to the "enter you details" screen,
once they have entered it their details again, it will then take them to
where they want to go, but if they want to for instance mark a few
records to renew, once again it goes back to the "enter your details"
screen.
I wrote off to III, thinking it may have been a problem there, and below
is the answer I got from them.
This sounds like this may be a reported known issue:
View Patron Record - Authentication Looping
2003-06-16
In Internet Explorer, after patrons are verified, when they click
"checked out" or "holds" link, they are redirected back to
authentication screen.
Process keeps repeating(looping). Cause is because content advisor is
enabled. Fix for this is patrons must have this disabled while viewing
own record (and can re-enable after logging off)
Web OPAC
Not defect--performing as designed
But my problems with their solution is that we have to have content
advisor enabled on our public access pc's here at the library, as we
lock them down pretty tight, so as they do not go to particular sites
that we have blocked. Patrons off campus, we can tell them to disable
the content advisor, no problem, but we need it turned on here in the
library.
So what I am asking is - has anyone else experienced this problem, and
if so have you managed to solve it or not?
Any help would be much appreciated.
Many thanks
Debbie Needham
