I would start with Kevin Jewell's presentation from the last IUG which is
available on the IUG site. It was called Millennium Circulation and Touch
screen technology. Apparently 3M is a industry leader so you might check
their website as well.

Because of Mr. Jewell's presentation, we have installed a Planar PT1503NT touch screen at our dedicated milcirc "check in" station as a test. It has been extremely well liked by staff, especially for the in-transit and hold slip messages that seem to constantly appear. So much, that just as Mr. Jewell mentioned in San Jose, staff (including myself) find themselves pressing the normal LCD monitors located elsewhere, as you can do a tremendous amount with them in milcirc. We hope that once our test phase is completed, to be able to install these at our remaining circulation points.

We have found that a 15" LCD is more than sufficent for circulation purposes, a larger monitor isn't really justifiable as far as costs go. This Planar 15" touch screen cost around $650, so while there is a sizable budget investment, the increased ergonomic payback is worth it, especially for those of us who have staff with repetitive motion hand/wrist concerns (and it's a heck of a lot faster).

Now if I could only use the pen from my tablet pc on monitors everywhere......
