- Subject: RE: Number of lists
I had the ASAA training in conjunction with IUG and we were a phase 3
beta site, so I got to do this!
Previously, lists were sold in blocks of 40 with 625,000 records split
among them.
Now, you can have as many review FILES as you want, but the total
number of RECORDS can only be as many as you have purchased.
We had 120 review files with 1,875,000 records. We're a small library,
and of the 91 review files that were in use, 80 had less than 1000
records in them. So I split up the medium sized files into lots and lots
of 1,000 record files. We now have 254 files, with 150 of them holding
only 1,000 records. (it drives me NUTS to see a big review file that can
hold 60,000 records with only 15 records in it.)
The system will tell you on the screen how many records you've used and
how many you have left, and it will not let you add another review file
if you've used up all you records.
So ... take the training, and figure out what will work for you. 8)

So many books .... So little time

My understanding is that you can only slice slice big list slots into
smaller list slots, with no increase the the total capacity of all
slots together, if someone on the admin side has gotten the ASAA
training.
