I didn't know that you could add and remove certain fields from
indexes. That would definitely solve the problem. Can we do that locally
or is it
something III has to do for us?

Naehyun,
If your database is already signed off and you already use the specific
MARC tags, adding or removing MARC tags from indexes involves a
re-indexing charge from Innovative. If your database is not signed off
or if you have not used the MARC tags before, Innovative will still have
to make the change, but there is usually no charge. There are ways
around this, but you would have to work that out with the Help Desk when
you make the request.
Also, no one has mentioned the alternative to deleting the offending
fields or reindexing the database. Just insert the offending field as a
Innopac field group tag "y - MARC" with the appropriate MARC tags. It
will then not appear in the index, but will appear in the MARC record
for catalogers' sake and will export fine if your export table is set to
pass it through. To determine if this will work for you, visit the index
rules screens on your system to see if the "y" Innopac field group
tag-MARC tag combination is included in any of your indexes. It can be
confusing for non-catalogers, but it does work.
HTH,
David
