Continuing and Electronic Resource Librarian
CENTER FOR RESEARCH LIBRARIES
The Center for Research Libraries is a consortium of research and
university libraries throughout the U.S. and Canada. The Center's
offices and unique collection of over four million volumes are located

We are seeking an experienced Serials librarian capable of contributing
to the overall high-level performance of our Technical Services
Department by providing leadership for the management of our serials and
electronic resources. The Center currently subscribes to approximately
12,000 serial titles with an emphasis on unique, non-English language,
scientific journals. Other serial titles, such as U.S. trade journals,
have been acquired through deposit by member libraries.
On a day to day basis, the individual will perform original and complex
copy cataloging as well as oversee Serials Check-In personnel. On a
strategic level, the individual will play a key role in evolving the
Center's capacity to describe, organize and provide effective access to
information resources. In this dimension of responsibility, the
individual selected will collaborate with Center senior staff and area
studies experts to plan, implement and evaluate new electronic resources
for providing access.
Knowledge, skill and education requirements:
* MLS from an ALA-accredited program
* A minimum of 2-3 years recent experience cataloging serials and
electronic resources according to AACR2rev and CONSER standards
* Proven planning, project management and supervisory experience.
* The ability to resolve complex bibliographic access and
retrieval problems as well as the capacity to lead process
re-engineering initiatives
* Knowledge of at least one foreign language OR experience
cataloging non-roman languages using Library of Congress Romanization
Tables
* Experience using Innovative Serials and Acquisitions Modules
and OCLC's Passport or CatMe.
