Folks -- I just heard from the circulation product manager on this issue and good news is on the horizon.  

In the next general release of Millennium Circulation, the remaining character-based Materials Booking functions will be moved into Milcirc.  This includes printing slips, managing events, modify/cancel existing bookings from the Search/Holds menu (it will no longer be View Only Display).  She also mentioned a new "history function" that will allow user to view past bookings for the title/item.  

This last feature might help those who have to find older bookings made for media where the prof forgot the title: 

"It was a movie...with that guy, you know, that guy.  And that girl was in it, you know, with the hair.  And they were in the jungle, you know..."

"Was it Bogart and Hepburn in the "African Queen?"

"No...thats it, it was "While You Were Sleeping" with that nice young lady, Sandy...something"

Back to reality, I have not seen any projected date for that release.  But at least this functionality is included.

Lesha -- It appears that you are correct.  The ability to delete or modify bookings is not possible when viewing this in Milcirc.  For that matter, I tried in Milcat and it does not work here.  For this type of work, it appears to have to be done in Telnet (though I have been wrong alot these days...I still have a better record than the Detroit Tigers!)

>From my discussions with Innovative, this needs to be reported to them as an "Telnet Does...Millennium Does Not" message rather than an enhancement.  I can forward this to the proper people at III and they can take it from there.  

I can see why this would be be a pain and hope that it gets resolved soon.

I HOPE I'm missing something obvious here!

In telnet circ, through the Materials Bookings subsystem you can view bookings 
on an item and cancel bookings from that display. (Often used here if someone 
wants to borrow something from our 5-hour-loan collection and the previous 
person hasn't collected it within the first hour of their booking!)

In Millcirc I can only find the capacity to VIEW bookings for an item (retreive 
record through the Search/Holds button and click on the bookings tab). I can't
find anywhere to cancel them other than viewing them, writing down the name of
the patron with the booking, then going into their patron record (by name), and 
cancelling their booking through their bookings tab. Surely this isn't the only 
way to cancel a booking without the patron in front of you? What if you need to 
cancel several bookings on the same item. Would you need to do them individually 
like this?!

Please let me know if there is another, easier way of doing this which I've
missed! Either a screen/option I haven't found, or a setting I can change
somewhere. I see the manual mentions a Materials Bookings authorisation 130. 
This does not show in our list of authorised functions. If you CAN cancel 
bookings from the Search/Holds Bookingsdisplay, perhaps you could also tell me 
if your system has function 130 set up? (Mind you it says without this function 
authorised you won't even be able to cancel bookings through the patron record, 
and we can, so the manual's not altogether correct.....)
