John -- PCODE3 values are maintined only by the site under the Numeric Codes menu option under System Codes (see pages Page # 101825 & Page # 101828).
This is not someting that III would maintain for a library so it sounds like this is a passwords issue on your local system rather than a software problem. It might also be that the main menu has passwords that are non-traditional, so a password might be setup for the Numeric Codes option. If no one at the library can edit the file (even people with 1-6xx password authorization (forgot what the new highest number is), then you definitely need to open a call with that information.
Hope this helps.

Subject: PCODE3 in patron record
Colleagues, we are using the character based system and would like to enter a new set of values into the PCODE3 field in the patron record. Specifically, we would like to indicate our students' majors, so that we can assess the collection use by major.
We aren't presently authorized to edit the values assigned to the PCODE3 field, and they are very out dated here. Is it possible for III to allow us to edit these values, or do we need to go to them every time we make a change?
Thanks for your advice!
