- Subject: MilAcq and thin client
We are a city agency, and our technical environment is
controlled by the City's ITT department. They are encouraging us
to accept thin clients as replacement machines for as many of
our elderly PCs as possible. (Including some 8 and 10 year old
boxes presently telnetting into the Innopac. Hey, it actually
works just fine.)
The city is running a Microsoft Windows 2000 terminal server.
We are assuming that it will work very well to have the pulic's
WebPACs delivered by thin client devices.
But now we have one Millennium module-- MilAcq-- and are looking
ahead to moving further into Millennium. I didn't find enough
information in the list archives to help puzzle this out. Is
anyone successfully running Millennium modules on staff thin
client stations? It seems to me impossible, since the Innopac
would be serving the server, and the city's server would be
serving the client...?? Or something like that.
And if you are doing it, are both servers on the same side of a
firewall, as in our situation they would not be.
Thank you for any help in our understanding of this.
