Best wishes with your migration, whichever vendor you choose. I work at a public library that has been running an ancient Galaxy text-based system for a long time. I was not here for the system selection process, but I came on board as the SA for the migration and implementation. So far, III seems like a good system. The migration process is well choreographed by III, and the migration team that we are working with are very good. We've done a first test dataload, and there were parts of their standard dataload mapping that we did not like, so this week we are reloading the data with tweaks to the mapping. They seem quite willing to keep at the dataload issues until we are happy. But it has been made clear to us that once we accept the data, then any future reloading will be charged.
I had worked as a SA on two different classic Dynix systems, and absolutely loved the system and the support staff that I dealt with there. The corporate ownership shuffle was disheartening, but never got so bad for our account that we wanted to jump from Dynix. I've kept in touch with both sites over the years, and they've upgraded to Horizon, so I guess they are still happy.
I'd say one of the excellent things about III is this awesome customer list. I've posted two or three questions, and got great answers within hours with info that the company was not able to provide to me. But watch out - you will get dressed down if you post any rants that are not grounded in accurate observations. But yea, mini-rants about real-deal problems will get you some good advice.
For us - time will tell if III is a good fit. Clearly it has functionality that our legacy Gaylord system does not have. Our cat & circ training are early Oct and we go online with circ late Oct. We are looking forward to having most of the migration behind us by the end of the calendar year, and then implementing serials and acq as new modules to us in early 2004.
Best wishes,
Paul

Hello Everyone:
Please excuse my intrusion on your list, but Niagara University Library
is considering migrating from DYNIX CLASSIC to Millenium, and I was
wondering how you rate Millenium? To be more specfic, Innovative pretty
much markets itself as the premier vendor of automation systems for
academic libraries. Based upon your experiences, do you consider that
to be true?
Also, if there are are any libraries who recently migrated from DYNIX
Classic, how did the migration go?
Thank you for your time.
