- Subject: Advanced Keyword Searching
We're about to implement Advanced searching, and I am somewhat confused.
According to the enhancements list dated Aug 2003, there's a new
feature in Rel 2002, phase 3 that "will be able to skip the adjacency
search in favor of the 'and' search".
>From the manual, I think that if I set the "AVS performs adjacency
search" to no, then it will and the search terms together instead of
doing a phrase search on those terms.
My confusion stems from the examples in the manual, which show the
"old" style of adjacency searching with explanatory notes for patrons
(and confused systems librarians!).
Can someone please clarify this for me?
Thanks,
