We have a journal title index created by ISSN (222 field). This means that
there are non-journal serials in the journal index, but that does not seem
to bother anybody. It also means that the serials cataloger must be sure to
add a 222 field in our catalog, if one is not already present in the OCLC
record.
This way you can search for journals easily by asking for that search type,
but the 222 field is the only way you can find one. Sometimes we add extra
222 fields, if the cataloger feels that more than one title might be
searched (Time and Time magazine, for example).
In addition, the journal/databases part of our homepage has an alpha list
of electronic journals, linked to the catalog.
