I know that I should know this, but I don't. How can you load an externally edited wwwoptions file? Or, can you?

My dilemma is that the filename does not appear in the list of files.

Margaret,

Paula is right about Phase 3 greatly improving access to your WebOPAC files. The reason you can't see the wwwoptions file now is that Innovative has placed a file name extension filter on the files that appear in the menu (.crt, .crs, .htm, .html, .gif, .jpg, etc.) and the wwwoptions file actually doesn't have an extension. You also can't see the files that you may have uploaded with an incorrect file extension, and given that the system has always made you manually edit the extension when you transfer via FTS (or you end up with "filename.html.html"), it's very easy to have made these mistakes in the past. Phase 3 allows you finally to be able to delete those.

If you really need to make a lot of changes to your wwwoptions file right away, here's what I did in the past.

1 - Make a backup copy of the wwwoptions file by copying and pasting into a text file (wwwoptions_bak.txt).
2 - Editing another copy of that text file with all of my changes, making sure to use a text editor that does not produce line wraps (wwwoptions_date.txt).
3 - In the edit the wwwoptions screen, I delete all of the lines in the file and then copy and paste from the wwwoptions_date.txt file in line 2.
4 - save the changes, restart the webOPACs and voila...

I use this same procedure when editing MARC load tables and other editable text files in the system. A great side effect of this is that I end up with complete backups of these files on my local harddrive.

HTH,
David
