Subject: WebOpac slowness and WAM Proxy?
We are a large university library system (+80,000 users) running
Millennium on a server for all libraries. Recently we activated the WAM
Proxy product and are routing all of our licensed databases thru it.
About 3 weeks ago, when patrons started using the WebOPAC and licensed
databases, the services slowed down heavily. We have had response times
of up to 30 seconds (about 3-7 seconds average) between searches and
record displays. We estimate around 300-500 simultaneous users using the
WebOpac...
Is there someone who has had this same experience? What was the outcome?
How did you go about diagnosing the problem?
Also, does the WAM Proxy product generate a heavy server load?
