Using Millennium 2002 Phase 2
WAM version using -- proxy rewrite
OK folks, I'm really having trouble getting WAM set up so that on-campus
users do not have to authenticate. But I do want them to go through the
proxy for statistical purposes. Since we're not that large of a school, I'm
not too concerned about the pull on the server. Here is what I have done:
In "Limit NETWORK Access", in the "HTTP" selection, I have put the
following:
#1 = on-campus IP range inside firewall
Access = Yes
Login Name = Trevecca (new)
Service Level = 3
#2 = on-campus IP range inside firewall
Access = Yes
Login Name = Trevecca (old)
Service Level = 3
#3 = on-campus IP range outside firewall
Access = Yes
Login Name = tnu
Service Level = 3
#4 = all
Access = Yes
Login Name = web
Service Level = 4
I'm using www.ala.org <www.ala.org> as my test site, so in the Forward
Table, I have the following for ALA:
1> Token = ala
2> IP address/Host name = www.ala.org <www.ala.org>
3> Port = 80
4> Service Level = 3
5> Verify = 4
6> Valid Patron Types = 0-10
7> Valid Patron Home Libs = <empty>
8> Database Identifier = <empty>
9> Database Name = ALA Home Page
Now, when I've accessed 80-www.ala.org.library.trevecca.edu from on-campus
with this configuration, it sends me to the ALA homepage. That's fine. The
problem, however, is with off-campus. I have a computer that is not
networked that I use to dial out to AOL and test things such as this. So,
after connecting to AOL, I start up Internet Explorer and put in the URL
above and it as well directs me to ALA without asking me to login! I've
tried it a number of ways -- reversing the Service Levels for on-campus and
off-campus (making on-campus 4 and off-campus 3) and this had the opposite
effect, requiring both on- and off- to login! What am I doing wrong? I've
read and re-read through the documentation and have been working on this for
about 2 weeks now, but with no luck. Since school begins in a couple of
weeks, I'd like to get this up and running CORRECTLY by then. If you have
any ideas at all what I am doing wrong, please contact me off-list. Thank
you.
