We run what you can call 3 servers at the same time:
1- The main 80 port server, live catalog.
2- The 2080 test port, our test server where we add and test new features.
3- The 2081 Thin Client port, which we use to replace the hard-wired terminals in the library.
Having a test port is major plus because, you can test all what you want away from your live catalog, Having other ports is a plus also because you can run some applications different way on each port to serve different purposes. For example: We run Syndetic Solutions with frames on port 2081 because thin client server wouldn't allow pop-up windows, and with pop-up windows on the regular port 80.
With the new release of 2002 Phase 3, we have learned at the last IUG Conference in San Jose that we will have to re-arrange with III the ports issue!!
