We just resolved a problem for us that was causing one of our major
vendors--Synergy--not to work.

There is a timeout coded in to the WAM module that sends a 'fin' packet
after 20 seconds if no content is sent to the INNOPAC from a remote site.
Synergy worked for us until we instituted a firewall a few months ago, but
after the firewall went up we could no longer connect through WAM. It took
a considerable amount of testing for us to determine that it was not really
the firewall that was the problem. What was happening was that before the
firewall was brought up it took about 18-19 seconds to receive content from
Synergy, and WAM worked. After the firewall went up, it took 21-22 seconds
for content to reach the WAM module and the connection closed.

Once the diagnosis was confirmed, III did a patch for us on the length of
time before there's a timeout, and everything is working properly. It's my
understanding that this patch will make it into Release 3.

We have only used the proxy rewrite method, so I don't know whether this
would affect other proxying methods in WAM.

Travis: Once I got everything set up on my end, we received no calls from
our patrons at all! It was wonderful. Good Luck
