RE: Inter-branch traffic

Hello Ellen: I have not found an easy way to produce "in-transit" statistics. However, there is the In-Transit Error Log which actually currently records EVERY in-transit (not just the errors), since it records EVERY in-transit item with a valid IMESSAGE value (when we don't use the imessage field, it remains in the record with a "-" which is considered a valid value). I clear this file daily and can get a list of all intransits for the day. Unfortunately, for us, this list is often represents nearly 2,000 items per day and it is not numbered. However, it is a record of the in-transits and could be sent to other software for statistical purposes. Another possibility would be to create a list of new in-transits daily. With the new Create Lists output formats that III promises in a release in the "near future", one could easily output this to EXCEL, eg., and accumulate a month's worth of statistics that way. (We're considering scripting such statistical requirements using EXPECT and Create Lists). I hope this helps! Otherwise, this is indeed a great enhancement suggestion! (just a thought, I wonder if the Consortium Management Product offers this statistic already, which may make it an easy enhancement!). Kind regards, Eeva

Hi Leigh,
Thanks for your reply. Yes I found those statistics and it gives some
impression but what we are looking for is the number of items shipped back
and forth. In our community, many customers physically go to both the Main
Library and our 1 branch.

Ellen,
In Circulation Statistics, you can view a report of requests for last month
or the current month. Our report shows the owning library and then the
patron's home library. We are able to see for example, what how many
requests are made from our branch campus to our main campus.
Hope this helps,
Leigh
