- Subject: Paid, not returned; subsequently returned
III users -
One of our branch libraries has a question about books that are paid and
apparently lost, then subsequently found. When these are checked in,
there is a message that says "Paid, not returned, Clear (y or n)?". Our
student workers evidently have a tendency to clear anything that they
don't encounter frequently and are unsure of what to do. The branch
circ head would like for these to automatically generate a message that
lets her know that the item has been found, and allows her to review the
situation later.
I would think we should handle this by emphatically teaching the
students NOT to clear, or otherwise modify the data, unless they are
specifically told to do so. But I wonder how others are handling this
situation?
