Can't you just do a forced overlay? Add to your 949
command line "ov=.b123(etc)", so that the new bib record
will overlay the old record that you don't want to use.
That's what we do here, as part of our regular cataloging
routine for purchased works (gifts don't have records to
overlay). We find it easy to use the copy/paste features in
the various softwares to capture the title in CatME, paste
it into the search box in Millennium, copy the bib record
number, and paste it into the "949 bb *ov=.b;" And, hey
presto! Not only is the record the cataloger wanted to use
now in the system, the old bib record is gone, but the order
record and item record(s) are attached to the new bib.
