Actually it works pretty well since I usually use the record loaded by
Acquisitions, unless I choose to catalog individual titles rather than a
series title that has been loaded.

Sounds too cumbersome to me. Too much transferring and deleting.

At Viterbo Library, the Acquisitions Librarian uses OCLC's CatMe product
to search WorldCat and to download a bibliographic and attached order
record into Millennium.
When a cataloger gets the item in hand, we do a title search in
Millennium. We can then determine if the bib record is appropriate.
Most of the records loaded by Acq look just fine. If the record looks
incorrect or inadequate in some way, I can download a new record through
CatMe, and transfer the existing order record to my new bib record. I
can choose to have the inadequate bib deleted during the process.
If Acq can't find a record in WorldCat, or chooses not to check
WorldCat, she will create a brief bib in Millennium with key Title
words, and attach an order record to it. When I get the item in hand, I
will search for the title in Millennium. I will load a new record from
WorldCat, transfer the order record and delete the brief bib, or create
an original record using the brief bib created by Acq.

Subject: question about order numbers
Hi,
Beginning this fiscal year, we will be using Millennium Acquisitions.
It looks like we will have to write the order
number on a slip of paper for each book as it is received so that
cataloging can overlay it with the OCLC record.
This is the step we chose, but it seems a cumbersome task for our
acquisitions department and we were wondering whether
anyone had devised a faster, more efficient way to match each book and
its order number. What is your work flow for materials
as they move from acquisitions to cataloging? We could use some
alternative ideas. Thanks.
