Re: AVS : skip adjacency in favor of the "and" search

We're curious about whether when an "and" search is chosen as the
default with the enhancement, if a searcher can specify adjacency with
quotation marks or the like. Let's hope we don't have to go through
another round of enhancement requests for that very useful, and
sometimes necessary, feature, and in the meatime be forced to choose
between never being able to use adjacency or being required to enter an
"and." Did they get it ALL right this time??

Hi all,

The latest list of enhancements for Release 2002 (all phases) says on
page 20
http://csdirect.iii.com/csd/release_notes/pdf/Rls2002_Enhlist.pdf :

that :

"Libraries that want to offer a broader set of advanced keyword search

results will be able to skip adjacency in favor of the "and" search"

We delayed our implementation of AVS because we wanted to have that
option. Are there any beta testers of Release 2002 phase 3 who have
tested this AVS option? Would it be possible to share your experience
with the list? Has anyone seen this in action or have additionnal
information they could share with the group?

Many thanks
