Tony: We were told that the Patch to Phase 2 was "Acquisitions only". I believe that it was loaded around Feb. 7. Interestingly, after that we had major improvement in Acquisitions, but some complaints from Serials Checkin, which we just implemented in late Feb/early March. We have since had an upgrade (we were told it was the "final stage of Phase 2") which cleared up the response time with Serials Checkin. Because the workstations impacted by the Serials Checkin slow response were already upgraded to Windows 2000, we were able to easily track the workstation "memory usage" by process and we discovered (prior to the latest "upgrade") that the java.exe was incrementing consistently, even when Millenium was not actively used (ie. just open and minimized), nearing the "100,000K" mark. Once we had the "final stage of Phase 2 upgrade", the usage dropped very significantly and ceased to continually grow (ie. it seemed to be refreshed).
Our Circ workstations were not as impacted by slow response problems, probably due to the fact that Milcirc takes priority in the transaction log, etc.
I hope this helps you! Good luck, Eeva

Hi Eeva,
I saw your message and wanted to get some more information. Is this patch
that you speak of part of the Release 2002, Phase 3 beta software test?
I ask because we have Rel 2002, Phase 2 and the patch that came out post
10-Feb-2003 and my Millennium sessions have always seemed slow. I have a
newer computer, 1.4 GHz Win XP, and thought Millennium should run quicker
and from your post I think there is hope still out there.
TIA,
Tony

What has also helped is an upgrade to Windows 2000 for our Tech Services staff (they were the ones suffering the slow response), which was implemented just prior to the patch. With the patch, however, we did see SIGNIFICANT improvement in performance (response time and fewer reports of Millenium "freezing"). Kind regards, Eeva
