- Subject: WAM and firewall issues
We began testing of our Web Access Management module for a week prior to our
institution installing a firewall. Everything seemed to work well before
the firewall, but now we find that some sites are easily accessible, and
others are available sporadically. ScienceDirect is authenticated
easily--Synergy, for example, does not authenticate in approximately eight
of 10 tries. Other resources usually work, but not always.
Our IT department has checked the logs for requests being blocked through
the firewall and finds none. They don't believe it's the firewall.
I'm confident the problems are not with our entries in the forward table.
As a complicating factor, we are requiring PIN authentication with WAM, and
that was instituted at about the same time as the firewall.
I've opened a call with III with regard to Synergy but, so far, there's
nothing to report from them.
Our firewall is from Checkpoint. We're a software only site running
Solaris.
If anyone has any suggestions as to what we can pursue for a solution to the
impasse we find ourselves in, it would be very gratefully received.
