We do three different types of patron record loads, but with one load table.
The critical thing is the 'overlay protection list'. Our primary load is
information from the Registrar's office. We do a load of new barcodes from
the campus id card office, and we do a load of student email addresses from
the academic network office.
Basically, when we do a load of email addresses, we protect EVERYTHING in
the record except the email address with the protection code=d. Our email
address info comes to us in a text format, with just default fixed field,
univ id, name, and email address.
The matching/overlay data for these loads is the Univ ID.
See #101871 in the manual for details of the overlay protection list. I do
this from the telnet version, since it is in the system administration area.

Subject: database update
I would like anybody to share their experience in millennium database
update. When we did our patron load to the system we were not in a
position to fill the campus email field. Now we need to do a load of
campus email alone to the database as a batch process. I am not sure if
anybody has gone through this process but I am really interested to get
any information related to it.
