- Subject: Limiting self-check to certain items/charging for certain items
We use a 3M model 6210 self-check. We are planning to begin charging a
per-use fee for videos and dvds. Although the 6210 provides a setting for
"video yes or no", this turns on/off the video slot, and does not recognize
the item type. The 6210 will still scan the barcode and permit checkout.
We want to have people bring videos and dvd's to the circulation counter
where we can collect the fee.
Does anyone do this, and how did you configure the 3M and/or Millennium to
do this? Alternatively, the 6210 has the ability to generate a message to
the effect " ...this is a chargeable item..." Does anyone use that feature
and how does it inferface with Millenium? Where/what are the settings that
need to be used?
