We are currently using wireless for our 18 public access workstations. It seems to be working fine for this purpose. However, be aware that the access point can be a bottleneck and slow things down if users are using a lot of bandwidth. The fastest speed a pc can achieve is the speed of the access point divided by the number of pcs using it at the time.

Given the memory required for Millenium workstations, I'd be hesitant to recommend running more than a few staff pcs off a wireless network unless you can get a very fast access point. None of our staff machines are wireless at this point. I don't know if multiple access points would help.

Are there any libraries that have only wireless network access and are using Millennium? If so, would you be willing to share your experiences? The pros and cons? We are in the process of planning a renovation of our library and it has been proposed that the library go completely wireless. We are still using the text-based INNOPAC system but plan to move to Millennium. Any advice and assistance will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.
